Human Computer Interaction Conference to Generate Over £300,000 for Local Economy

Approximately 200 delegates from around the world are expected to descend on Dundee next week 6-10 September 2010 to attend the UK's largest human computer interaction conference (HCI), HCI2010. World-renowned American computer scientist Dr Ben Shneiderman has been announced as the opening keynote speaker for the conference, which is organised by the University of Abertay Dundee and BCS, the chartered institute for IT, with the assistance of the Dundee & Angus Convention Bureau.

Scott's race to the South Pole against Norwegian, Roald Amundsen is one of the most famous stories in the history of exploration. 2010 is the centenary of the beginning of Captain Scott's fateful National Antarctic Expedition of 1910-12 aboard the Terra Nova. To mark the occasion, Dundee Heritage Trust is producing a special exhibition of photographs and objects from its collections, many of which have never been publicly displayed before. The show will feature stunning images of the Terra Nova, sledging parties, penguins and seals, vast icebergs, life in the hut at Cape Evans and portraits of the men including highly emotional photographs of the Polar party at the South Pole.
Kirrie Fair Brings Family and Local History to Life

The Fair, which was held by Tayroots in partnership with Barrie 2010, was attended by a steady stream of visitors from far and near, including a family historian from Alberta, Canada.
